Jones makes Bantams switch

Former Rochdale captain Gary Jones has joined League Two rivals Bradford on a free transfer after signing a one-year deal with the club.

The move to the Bantams will see Jones reunite with City assistant Steve Parkin and defender Simon Ramsden, with whom he worked with at Spotland.

Jones, 35, passed a medical on Friday afternoon after announcing his departure from Rochdale after 11 years' service.

Jones will return to Spotland to face his former employers on Tuesday, October 2.

Jones told the Telegraph & Argus: "You seek fresh challenges in football and this is a great one for myself.

"I came here last year but the Rochdale manager persuaded me to stay. I didn't think it was the right time to leave then.

"But I met Phil Parkinson a few weeks ago and was really impressed by him. I've played here a lot of times, it's a great club and I can't wait to get started."
