Kabir out of Lancashire opener

Lancashire's new signing Kabir Ali will miss the start of the new county season because of a knee injury.

Fast bowler Kabir, who joined Lancashire from Hampshire in the winter, suffered the injury whilst playing in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Lancashire cricket director Mike Watkinson told the club's website: "He jarred his knee in the foot holes during his time in Bangladesh.

"When he came back to us and started training indoors, it began to swell up.

"He went to see the surgeon for an arthroscopy midway through last week, and he will have to go and see him again. We're hopeful it is nothing too serious."

Kabir will definitely miss the Division One opener against his former county Worcestershire at Old Trafford on April 10.

He was unable to travel to Dubai where Lancashire are currently training and playing in a pre-season tournament.

One new signing who was able to join up with his new team-mates in the Middle East is all-rounder Wayne White who signed from Leicestershire.
