Kalou brace gets Lille back on track

Salomon Kalou's first-half double ensured Lille immediately returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Bastia on Sunday.

Lille lost for the first time in 12 league outings against Bordeaux last weekend and were in trouble again when they fell behind to the Corsicans thruogh Ludovic Genest's third-minute strike.

Kalou quickly turned matters around with goals after 17 and 22 minutes to solidify Lille in third place in the Ligue 1 standings.

Bordeaux moved up to fourth, nine points adrift of Lille, after a 2-1 win at home to lowly Valenciennes.

Despite falling behind to a second-half Tongo Doumbia header, the hosts hit back thanks to a Nicolas Maurice-Belay winner after Jussie had levelled from the spot.

Valenciennes could have left the Stade Chaban-Delmas with more, but Eloge Enza-Yamissi missed a second-half penalty with the score at 1-1.

Marseille's highly-rated Florian Thauvin scored a late equaliser to secure a 2-2 draw against Lyon at the Stade Gerland.

The hosts raced into a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Alexandre Lacazette and Bafetimbi Gomis before Andre-Pierre Gignac pulled one back on the stroke of half-time leaving the France Under-21 star to steal the headlines.
