Kehl sinks Freiburg, Hertha held
Sebastian Kehl pushed his former club Freiburg closer to relegation with the only goal of the game as Borussia Dortmund triumphed 1-0.
Kehl's match-winner just before the hour came during an improved second-half performance from Dortmund, who were not at the races in the first 45 minutes.
Jurgen Klopp's men had chances to add a second late on as Freiburg ran out of steam, losing for the sixth time at home this season and remaining second from the bottom of the Bundesliga after missing the chance to move out of the relegation zone.
Mainz were denied the chance of moving up to fifth by Hertha Berlin, who kept their own hopes of qualifying for Europe next season alive with a 1-1 draw.
Adrian Ramos put the visitors in front before an Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting penalty levelled matters and ensured both sides can still dream of European football next season.
Only goal difference separates Mainz from the top six, with Hertha just two points behind with 10 games of the season to go.
