Kempton given go-ahead

Saturday afternoon's meeting at Kempton is set to go ahead as scheduled after the course passed a second morning inspection.

Officials announced an early-morning check for 7.30am after the Sunbury course was hit by significant snowfall on Friday and with the snow having relented by that time, acting clerk of the course Sarah Dunster decided to check again at 9am.

After some hard work from the course staff, the snow has been cleared and the all-weather surface is fit for racing.

Dunster said: "We're on. Everyone has been here since 5.30am and has been working very hard to get the snow off the track.

"We're not forecast any further snow today and on the condition that the weather doesn't change, we are fine to race, which is great news."
