Key games ahead for Baines
Everton defender Leighton Baines is preparing for two home games which he believes will probably make or break the club's season.
The Toffees saw their hopes of FA Cup glory ended by the 4-1 quarter-final defeat at Arsenal on Saturday and they now have only the Premier League to concentrate on.
Their next two matches see them face Welsh duo Cardiff City and Swansea City at Goodison Park and Baines reckons two wins are a must if they are to secure a top-six finish.
The England international left-back, who captained the side at the Emirates with Phil Jagielka still out injured, said after the defeat: "We are bitterly disappointed with the outcome because we came here with a positive frame of mind looking to win the game.
"We have got a couple of home games now against Cardiff and Swansea that we know we are capable of winning and know we probably must win in terms of having a push for the back end of the season with just the league to focus on.
"We want to finish strongly and those two games are hopefully the platform which we can build on."
Everton are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table with 48 points although they have a game in hand on sixth-placed Manchester United who also have 48 points.
