Khubala up for Ayr Gold Cup
Hugo Palmer will strongly consider the Ayr Gold Cup for Khubala after he finished sixth in the Goldene Peitsche at Baden-Baden on Sunday.
The four-year-old was stepping up in grade in Germany and while not disgraced, Palmer felt he could possibly have finished even closer.
"On the face of it he ran well, but he could have done better," said the Newmarket handler.
"He needs cover and saw too much daylight. He's not straightforward and, like a lot of horses, he needs things to fall right. I'm not saying he'd have won, but it probably cost him two or three lengths.
"He was up in grade and probably needed the ground a bit softer, too. It was perfect good ground and against better horses he probably needs cut.
"He's in the Ayr Gold Cup, which looks an option at this stage. He should get his ground, you'd have thought, and then there's the Bengough at Ascot in October which might suit."
