Kings take series lead

Jeff Carter scored and had two assists as the LA Kings held off Chicago to earn a 4-3 victory in game three of the Western Conference finals.

The reigning Stanley Cup champions twice took the lead through captain Jonathan Toews in the first period but they were pegged back by Slava Voynov and Carter, with Tyler Toffoli scoring the tiebreaking goal.

Drew Doughty's third-period goal gave the Kings a cushion, with Patrick Sharp netting a consolation for the Blackhawks with five seconds remaining, as Los Angeles moved 2-1 up in the best-of-seven series.
