Kirkland leads the way
Cassandra Kirkland leads following round one of the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open.
Frenchwoman Cassandra Kirkland sat at the top of a congested leaderboard following round one of the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open.
Kirkland, who has hit two holes-in-one in the last three years in this event at Archerfield, opened with a birdie and never looked back as she picked up further shots on 11, 13 and 14 to fire a flawless 68.
That four-under performance gave her a one-shot lead over a group of three players made up of countrywoman Anne-Lise Caudal, South African Lee-Anne Pace and England's Trish Johnson.
Pace was just one under after her front nine but an eagle at the second had her flying before she gave both those shots back in quick succession.
But birdies at eight and nine recovered her round to put her alongside Johnson, who picked up shots on 11, 12 and three.
Caudal was four under at the turn after a stunning front nine but came home in topsy-turvy fashion to drop back.
Heather MacRae leads the home challenge as she sits a shot further back alongside Klara Spilkova and Emily Taylor.
Another Scot, Solheim Cup star Catriona Matthew, is in the group at one under.
