Koepka and Garrigus have the edge
Brooks Koepka and Robert Garrigus shared the lead midway through their third rounds at the PGA Tour Frys.com Open in California on Saturday.
Halfway leader Koepka, who announced himself to an American audience with a seven-under 64 at CordeValle Golf Club on Friday, was two under for the day through nine holes after following up three birdies over his first four holes with a bogey five at the sixth.
He was joined atop the leaderboard on 13 under overall by fellow American Garrigus, whose front nine included five birdies and was only marred by a dropped shot at the par-three seventh.
Jason Kokrak was a shot off the lead midway through his round after a mixed opening nine holes on Saturday. After a stunning eagle two at the first and a birdie at the second, bogeys on five and six saw him drop back before he recovered a shot with a birdie on seven.
Jimmy Walker and Jim Herman were three strokes off the pace on 10 under, Walker seven under through 15 and Herman one under after 10 holes.
Ricky Barnes, Will MacKenzie and George McNeill were also making good progress up the leaderboard on Saturday, the former six under for the day and the latter pair five under in the closing stages of their respective rounds.
