Koukash blasts Giants coach

Salford owner Marwan Koukash has hit back at Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson following his criticism of the decision to sack Phil Veivers.

The ambitious City Reds made the decision to dispense with their coach earlier this month following a heavy defeat to London Broncos in round five of Super League.

Anderson labelled the move disgraceful, adding: "It's a rash decision made by people with no history in the game."

Yet in his programme notes for Friday night's game with Warrington, Koukash pointed to the number of experienced figures in senior positions at Salford and also questioned Anderson's own credentials.

"I must say I was very disappointed with Huddersfield Giants' Paul Anderson, who came out with a statement about us having no experience in rugby league," wrote Koukash.

"In the team we have put together we have the vast experience of Graham Lowe, Andrew Chalmers (who both serve as directors) and (chief executive) Ed Farish.

"Looking at the experience of Mr Anderson I don't think he has the experience in the game to make statements like that."

Elaborating on Veivers' dismissal, Koukash added: "We showed as a board of directors we are determined 100 per cent to build this team to be competitive.

"We watched the London game and just didn't get the feeling Phil was the right man to lead us there so we decided to replace him."
