Kumb set for Cheltenham return
Alan King's Kumbeshwar will step up in trip for the Equus-Fine Dining At The Festival Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on Saturday.
The £50,000 contest has attracted a strong entry at the five-day stage including the likes of Festival winner Oiseau De Nuit, Vino Griego and Vulcanite.
Kumbeshwar found it tough going against the likes of Sprinter Sacre and Sanctuaire last season,
but proved he is a classy performer in his own right when winning a graduation chase at Haydock.
On his last run, he was an early faller in the Grand Annual back in March.
"Kumbeshwar is due to school on Thursday morning and, provided everything goes well, I think that we will run him at Cheltenham. He has done very well over the summer and is in good order at the moment," said King.
Balder Succes was impressive for the Barbury Castle handler at Chepstow last week, along with Handazan, and both could make quick reappearances.
King said: "Balder Success (Royal Gloucestershire Hussars Novices' Chase) and Handazan (Masterson Holdings Hurdle) are also possible runners and I want to see how they are on Friday before confirming them.
"They both did a canter on Wednesday morning but I am just waiting until Friday to make up my mind."
