Kvitova storms to Haven final
Defending champion Petra Kvitova reached the final of the New Haven Open with a straight-sets victory over fellow Czech Klara Zakopalova.
The world No 9 romped to a 6-0 6-1 win in just 50 minutes.
Kvitova had fought through three three-set matches en route to the semif-finals but this win over her close friend was much more straightforward.
Zakopalova won just 23 of the 76 points in the match. She won just three points in the second set before holding serve, closing to 5-1 with her only game of the match.
Kvitova, seeded three here, will face the winner of Friday night's second semi-final between four-time New Haven champion Caroline Wozniacki and Romanian Simona Halep.
