Lallana inspired by Bale

Adam Lallana admits he is inspired by former Southampton star Gareth Bale as he continues his rapid rise in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old midfielder is considered one of the hottest talents in English football and his fine form for Southampton is expected to earn him a place in Roy Hodgson's World Cup squad.

Bale, another exciting youngster who started his career at St Mary's, joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in the summer, with the pressure of a huge price tag on his shoulders.

But the Welshman has thrived under the spotlight in Spain, performing impressively alongside Madrid's leading man Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lallana has watched Bale's progress with interest and feels his dedication is an example to any player who wants to compete with Europe's elite.

"He's moved to Real Madrid for 100m, but he's still competing with the best like (Cristiano) Ronaldo," Lallana told Sky Sports News.

"When they are setting the standard it shows when they are worth that much money and they're still putting in the work and still wanting to get better, wanting to score more goals, then that's the attitude that every professional footballer should have really.

"He's got that X-Factor, he's an unbelievable individual and he's proven his worth.

"He's gone to Real Madrid with bundles of pressure on him, can he handle the price tag? He just looks like he's enjoying his football like everyone else really in the Real Madrid team."
