Lambert: Duo can play together
Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert believes new signing Grant Holt and Christian Benteke can form a deadly double act in attack.
Holt joined Villa on loan until the end of the season from Wigan earlier this week to be reunited with former Norwich boss Lambert.
Question marks have been raised over the signing of the 32-year-old after he struggled at Wigan this term, but Lambert can see no reason why Holt and Benteke cannot be a success together.
"I know what I'm getting with him and that's the beauty of it," said Lambert
"Can they play together? Well if they did they could be a right handful with the physicality they bring.
"Holty is streetwise. He will get you things. He knows how to use his body. He's an old fashioned No.9.
"He was fantastic for me at Norwich. I think he was player of the year three times.
"I wouldn't have a problem with playing Christian and Grant together. I think they would bring a physicality to things.
"When you look at their physicality allied to Gabby's speed and Andi's endeavour, there are a lot of options there."
