Lambert targets 'number 10'
Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has confirmed he is looking to bring in a 'number 10' to bolster his attacking options.
The Scot feels that his Villa side are lacking a spark, which he feels a creative player in an advanced role could bring to his starting line-up.
Villa have been strongly linked with a number of attacking midfielders in recent weeks, including Porto's out-of-favour Belgium international Steven Defour.
Sky Sports, though, understands that Norwich's Wes Hoolahan is the man at the top of Lambert's list to fill his midfield vacancy and he is set to make a move for the Irishman who he previously worked with at Carrow Road.
"We don't have a specialist attacking midfielder - I call them number 10s," said Lambert.
"Players who are prepared to take a chance and take risks are important. If you can get somebody like that in your side, they can make things happen.
"We don't have that special type of player who knows how to get into little pockets on the pitch and create chances.
"They're worth their weight in gold if you can get them - and pretty dear!"
