Lamela: I'm ready to impress
Tottenham playmaker Erik Lamela says he is enjoying life in North London and has promised to improve this season.
The Argentina international, who joined from Roma for £30m, had a largely frustrating debut season in the Premier League which was hampered by injuries and poor performances.
Having started just three times for Spurs last year, Lamela insists he is beginning to enjoy life at White Hart Lane after his impressive midweek performance off the bench at Limassol helped his side to a 2-1 win.
"When I was injured, I was not good. I was not happy. Now, I am happy to be playing football again and helping the team to win," he said.
"To come on and help change that match against Limassol was great. We all went home happy.
"This season is a challenge for me because last season did not go as I had hoped with the injuries. But these are things you have to overcome and change yourself," he added.
"I spent all my holidays over in Argentina with my family and friends. It was great. I now feel 100 per cent, without any injuries."
After an injury-free pre-season, Lamela is hoping that his good luck continues into this season and has promised Spurs fans to expect more from him.
"You have not seen the best of me yet and you always have to improve. I don’t know how far I can go but I will try my hardest to make my team win," he said.
"My aims this season are to train to the maximum and continue to improve as a footballer.
"I am still young. I think I can improve a lot but it depends on me. This season I want to help my team and my team-mates to reach our aims."
