Lampard in City's Euro squad

Manchester City have named veteran midfielder Frank Lampard in their squad for this season's Champions League.

The former England star, 36, arrived at Etihad Stadium on loan from New York City having left Chelsea on a free transfer at the start of the summer.

Because of a sanction for breaching UEFA's financial fair play regulations, the Premier League champions are allowed to register only 21 names in their A squad rather than the usual 25 and are limited to 16 non-homegrown players.

Serbian defender Matija Nastasic, who had been expected to leave the club before the transfer deadline, is eligible to play despite being named in the B squad as he was under 21 at the turn of the year.

City kick off their European campaign with a daunting trip to face Bayern Munich on September 17.
