Lampard to decide on England
Frank Lampard will not make a decision about his England future until after the World Cup.
The 36-year-old midfielder has been handed the captaincy for Tuesday's final Group D game against Costa Rica after England's elimination was confirmed by last week's defeat against Uruguay.
There has been speculation that Lampard could be facing a final appearance for his country, but he will not reveal his plans before the team returns from Brazil.
\"I don't know whether I will [retire] or not,\" he said.
\"I am going to get home and make a decision at that point because I have my own future to sort out as well.
\"This is not the time and place to make the decision. Sometimes when you are away for a month you don't always come up with the right judgement.\"
Lampard has remained on the bench as Roy Hodgson's side bowed out in disappointing fashion with defeats against Italy and Uruguay.
He had played every minute of England's previous World Cup campaigns and will receive his 106th cap when he replaces Steven Gerrard in Belo Horizonte.
Hodgson has urged Gerrard to extend his international career, amidst suggestions the 34-year-old LIverpool player could retire, but the England boss admitted that Lampard would be used more sparingly if he continues playing.
"With regard to Frank Lampard, he's 36," said Hodgson.
"We don't know as yet what his next destination is. I would be more than happy if Frank remains available for selection because you never know when you need players.
"A quality player like him I am sure he could serve the country well even in the future, but I haven't had that conversation with him as such as yet.
"I have talked to him more about his future plans and I'm pretty sure that, if we said to him the chances are you might not feature quite so much but please don't retire, please be available, well I think Frank is one of those guys who would say 'you can always count on me if you need me'."
Lampard's club career also remains uncertain as he parted company with Chelsea at the end of the season and has since been linked with a move to MLS side New York City FC.
