Landmark victory for Ruff
Lindy Ruff celebrated his 600th NHL victory as a coach after the Dallas Stars beat his former team, the Buffalo Sabres, 3-2.

The Los Angeles Kings edged out the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 for their fifth successive victory in a meeting of in-form teams.
Jeff Carter netted what proved to be the winner on a power-play in the second period, and, although Montreal found a way to slow the Kings' recent offensive surge, they could not do much about scoring themselves.
Jared Spurgeon scored on a power-play in a third period as the Minnesota Wild beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 for a fifth straight win.
Darcy Kuemper made 21 saves as he made a 15th consecutive start.
Dalton Prout and Artem Anisimov both scored in the second period to power the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 2-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
