Check out the biggest completed January transfers here.
Deadline day highlights: David Beckham completes five-month move to PSG; Arsenal sign Malaga left-back Nacho Monreal for about £8.5m; Odemwingie's move from WBA to QPR falls through; QPR sign Chris Samba from Anzhi and Jermaine Jenas from Spurs; Stoke sign USA winger Brek Shea, plus Jack Butland and loan him back to Birmingham; Luciano Becchio leaves Leeds for Norwich; Everton land John Stones for around £3.5m; Danny Graham joins Sunderland from Swansea in £5m deal; Fulham loan Urby Emanuelson, Stanislav Manolev and Eyong Enoh; Wigan re-sign Paul Scharner from Hamburg; Mario Balotelli completes £19m Milan move.
2345: That, my friends, is a wrap. It wasn't as dramatic as previous deadline days, with Stoke, QPR and Fulham the busiest Premier League clubs. Beckham's move to PSG remains the headline transfer, while Balotelli's love affair with the Premier League is over. I'll miss you, Mario. Scroll down to see how all the fun and games unfolded and check the biggest transfers above. Sleep tight all. See you in August.
2330: So what other deals went through in the nick of time? Martin Jol has had a late night wrapping up loan deals for Stanislav Manolev and Eyong Enoh from PSV and Ajax respectively, Blackpool's Kevin Phillips and Stephen Dobbie of Brighton have joined Crystal Palace on loan, West Ham loan Alou Diarra to Lens and Matt Upson joins Brighton on loan from Stoke. DJ Campbell's proposed switch to Blackburn from QPR has fallen through at the last minute. Bet the fax machine will be blamed.
2320: GUNNERS CONFIRM MONREAL! The Malaga left-back completes his move to North London for around £8.5m. Kieran Gibbs will be tossing and turning tonight.
2300: CLUNK! THE WINDOW HAS SHUT! We're still waiting confirmation on Malaga left-back Monreal to Arsenal for £8.5m, but don't panic you Gooners, these things have a habit of dragging on to the wee small hours. Wonder what Peter Odemwingie's up to now. He was last seen hitting the M25 in his Range Rover wearing a QPR onesie. Thanks for joining us throughout the day - if there is any more breaking news we'll be hanging around until midnight and will bring it to you right here. Cheers!
2257: Magaye Gueye is a Brest man. After failing to break into the Everton first team the French winger has moved back to his homeland, joining the Ligue 1 side on loan.
2252: EVERTON SIGN JOHN STONES! The defender joins from Barnsley on a five-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £3.5m. He went to Wigan but that was enough to make his mind up that it was the Blues for him. I've been to Wigan. I can see his point.
2245: With just 15 minutes to go, Malaga left-back Monreal to Arsenal for £8.5m could be one of those which only gets confirmed after the deadline. Apparently it's all down to that pesky paperwork now.
2242: Leandro Damiao to Spurs is confirmed as a no-goer. Maybe they'll have another bash in the summer window. I pity the chap Sky Sports News have dispatched to White Hart Lane. You can see the simmering rage in his eyes as he's pawed by a bunch of bawling goons while trying to file his piece to camera.
2235: Wolves boss Dean Saunders has confirmed that Celtic tried to land Kevin Doyle on loan but it was knocked back. Meanwhile, does anyone want a Spanish striker for free? Cost £5.7m, hardly used, shoots wide first time. Well, Newcastle have released Xisco from his contract.
2224: George Boyd from Posh to Forest is OFF. Apparently he was put through a rigourous medical from 10am, all was going swimmingly but the chairman pulled the plug at the final hour due to an an "inconclusive vision test". Alex McLeish is probably ripping his arm off and hitting him with the soggy end as we speak.
2208: QPR LAND JERMAINE JENAS! He says he's joining a "top club" on an 18-month deal, fee is undisclosed. Has he SEEN the Premier League table lately? Andros Townsend has also joined from Spurs on loan, as the pair link up with their old boss Harry Redknapp.
2200: ONE HOUR TO GO KLAXON! What's still up in the air? Malaga left-back Monreal to Arsenal, Diame to Lord knows where, Jenas to QPR and Odemwingie back to West Brom with his tail between his legs. Oooh, and a new one - Wolves striker Kevin Doyle to Celtic! Damiao to Spurs is looking unlikely - they offered £17m but Internacional simply don't want to flog him, especially mid-season.
2153: It's gone so quiet that I'm reduced to month-long loan deals - on which Southampton winger Steve De Ridder has joined Bolton. *jabs fork in eye in a bid to stay awake*
2138: Habib Habibou - a man whose name sounds like a fart in a bath - has joined Leeds! The Central African Republic striker moves from SV Zulte on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move.
2130: STOKE SIGN BREK SHEA! Y'know... Brek Shea! Winger from FC Dallas? USA international? No? Well he's cost them £2.5m, on a four-and-a-half-year deal, subject to him getting a visa. Have a look at him on Google Images for some of the worst haircuts you'll ever see.
2112: Peter Odemwingie has left Loftus Road - and he's still a West Brom player! His agent must have told him that driving to QPR to force a deal was the right thing to do, but West Brom have played it with a straight bat. That's going to make for an awkward training session tomorrow.
2100: Two hours to go! Magaye Gueye's seemingly on his way out of Everton, with a loan deal in France "80 percent done" according to Sky Sports sources (or Twitter, as it's known).
2050: More on Norwich's dogged pursuit of Celtic striker Gary Hooper. Neil Lennon confirms there have been "no fresh bids for Gary", and if there are "they will be rejected. He is not for sale."
2033: Norwich won't take the hint, will they? Four bids put in for Celtic's Gary Hooper, and four bids rejected. The Hoops have stated once again that the deal is not happening.
2024: Mohamed Diame could be on his way out of West Ham! The Irons have received a bid from an unnamed Premier League club which has triggered a release clause in his contract. As the news is being broken by Sky Sports' David Craig in the north east, then it's surely Newcastle or Sunderland!
2011: West Brom have put out a statement that Peter Odemwingie has not been given permission to speak to QPR since the move collapsed due to the Hoilett sticking point. The striker has turned up at Loftus Road to hold talks and try to force a move through. This is bizarre - surely the Baggies will simply refuse to sell him. No?
2000: Three hours to go! Harry Redknapp has revealed to QPR's official weekly radio show that Chris Samba has taken a "massive pay cut" to join the Hoops, so it looks like he's not on the much-touted £100k-a-week. Harry said: "He was willing to take a massive pay cut because I don't think he was enjoying it over there. I've tried to sign him loads of times. Tony (Fernandes) said to me 'I'm going to get you these players and when I do you're going to build a statue of me in your back garden."
1951: Oh that's classic. Jermaine Jenas has turned up at QPR to seal a move from Spurs on an 18-month deal, and the doors are locked! He finishes his interviews, poses for a few pics... and a few more pics... and a few more pics, until a member of the QPR staff lets him in.
1935: 'Reina to Arsenal' is trending on Twitter, largely thanks to a fake account claiming to be Daily Mail hack Martin Samuel. It even has a blue tick - Twitter fail.
1920: Randy Lerner has loosened his purse strings a touch, as Aston Villa have completed the signing of French midfielder Yacouba Sylla from Clermont Foot for around £2m. That should cheer up Paul Lambert. A bit. More
1924: Baggies striker Peter Odemwingie arrives at QPR with the deal still up in the air. His Range Rover is swiftly besieged by phone-toting fans just *desperate* to stick a wonky 'look at me standing next to a vaguely famous person' picture on Facebook.
1912: Leandro Damiao from Internacional to Spurs in ON! The big target man is at the centre of some fervent haggling over his price and payment structure, and it's thought that Spurs will have to stump up around £18m to land him. You may remember him from London 2012, where he was the Olympics' top scorer with six goals in five games for silver medallists Brazil.
1902: Peter Crouch is STAYING at Stoke. His move to QPR has collapsed, so Harry Redknapp won't be signing him for a fifth time. Probably a good thing. It's verging on stalking.
1900: Four hours to go! Leeds have wrapped up a bit of business, signing Stephen Warnock from Aston Villa on a permanent basis. Sticking with the Championship and Forest boss Alex McLeish has confirmed that Peterborough winger George Boyd is having a medical the City Ground. Wolves, meanwhile, had tried to nab Stephen Ward from the Tricky Trees but McLeish sent them packing.
1840: The Peter Odemwingie saga takes another turn. Apparently the West Brom striker had packed his bags, said his goodbyes and was on his way to sign for QPR. The Baggies then decided they wanted Junior Hoilett to go the opposite way on loan, and for QPR to stump up his wages. No deal, said QPR chairman Tony Fernandes - presumably it was him as Harry Redknapp has been keen to stress that he has nothing to do with transfers. *strokes chin again* That one then, is up in the air.
1814: Spurs are usually busy on deadline day and they've let third-choice keeper Heurelho Gomes join Hoffenhiem on loan for the rest of the season. Newcastle have made their 150th signing this month but it's not another Frenchman. Swiss teenager Kevin Mbabu, 17, has agreed terms on a three-and-a-half-year contract and will go into the club's development squad after completing his move from Servette. 'Hot prospect' for Football Manager fans.
1750: Naughty old Everton are hijacking Wigan's bid to sign Barnsley defender John Stones. Both sides have now had bids accepted today, but he reportedly favours the Blues and is on his way to their training ground Finch Farm for talks. One deal which is DONE is Ahmed Elmohamady, who has moved from Sunderland to Hull on loan for the remainder of the season. He's already enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Tigers.
1738: Could Arsenal actually be doing some business? Radio Marca in Spain are reporting that Malaga's Nacho Monreal, their 26-year-old first-choice left back, is flying to London to negotiate terms! He's got nine caps for Spain, and will cost the Gunners around £8m. Malaga aren't keen on selling but are brassic.
1720: Well thank God for David Beckham - he filled in a bit of time, and being 40 minutes late for his presser helped too. Sky Sports News are maintaining their air of inflated excitement, but the truth is this is one of the most boring deadline days for many a year.
1639: David Beckham has finally turned up for his press conference, 40 minutes late. He's "excited", says he's going to have to brush up on his French, and that he didn't move to the Premier League because Manchester United were the only team that he'd want to play for in England - which is the diplomatic way of saying QPR are rubbish. Becks also reveals he's going to donate his PSG salary to a Paris children's charity. He's good, eh?
1615: The rumour linking Premier League clubs with a move for Shakhtar Donetsk's Willian - it was really nothing. It looks like Russian moneybags Anzhi Makhachkala are going shell out one-and-half billion rubles - that's £34m to you and me. And well done if you got the Smiths reference.
1553: Harry Redknapp just been grabbed outside Loftus Road and revealed that he had nothing to do with the signing of Chris Samba. Apparently his chairman told him: "I've got you a centre-half." 'Arry asked who it was, and was delighted to hear it was the former Blackburn man. *slowly strokes chin*. Meanwhile, 'Arry confesses that landing Peter Crouch from Stoke would be a "difficult one", which "wasn't possible". Expect that to go through at 10.55pm, then.
1538: Confirmation that Beckham has passed his medical! He successfully underwent a rigorous routine of smiling continuously for half an hour, followed by 500 handshakes. That press conference is coming up at 4pm. Full story
1522: Pics are coming in of an immaculately-coiffured David Beckham emerging from a clinic in Paris and getting in an MPV to take him to a press conference, where he'll no doubt say PSG were his first choice all along and speak a few words of GCSE-level French to polite giggles and applause from the fawning media throng, like some trained chimp in an Yves Saint Laurent coat.
1500: Afternoon all, it's Ross, taking over from Mike until the window closes at 11pm. No sooner have I settled myself into the hotseat vacated by my esteemed colleague (it is *actually* hot - euurrgh) than there's another done deal! Stoke have finally got their hands on Birmingham keeper Jack Butland for around £4.5m, loaning the international bright young thing straight back to the Blues for the rest of the season.
1446: Goalkeeper Alexander Doni is understood to have been released by Liverpool and will join Brazilian club Botafogo.
1433: Apparently Paul Robinson's move from Blackburn to West Ham is off. It wouldn't surprise me if he'd failed a medical. Last time I watched Neighbours, he seemed to have a nasty limp. Elsewhere, talk is surfacing of Kevin Phillips leaving Blackpool to join Ian Holloway at Crystal Palace. And busy Forest boss Alex McLeish wants his old Birmingham mucker Chris Burke.
1406: DANNY GRAHAM JOINS SUNDERLAND! The Gateshead-born striker and boyhood Newcastle fan is on his way to the Mackems after Michu's hot form forced him into a bit-part role at Swansea. The fee is £5m on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
1401: I've just been informed there IS a verb 'to table'. "Verb (used with object): to place on a table; to present for discussion." Well, there you have it. Maybe the transfer window lexicon isn't so ludicrous after all. Anyway, Middlesbrough have signed 34-year-old crock Kieron Dyer on a short-term deal.
1335: Some news comin' straight outta Anfield. Don't get too excited though, you Reds fans. Daniel Pacheco has been loaned to Spanish team Deportiva Huesca.
1332: We might have some movement on Birmingham's highly-rated 'keeper Jack Butland. Stoke have tabled (show me the verb 'to table' in the dictionary, by the way.) a £4m bid and would loan him back to Lee Clark's struggling side for the remainder of the season. It's far from a fait accompli yet, though.
1329: Alex McLeish is a busy boy today. The Forest boss is in for former Middlesbrough and Scotland midfielder Barry Robson, as are Hartlepool and Sheffield United. The Inverurie-born player left Vancouver Whitecaps at the end of the MLS season.
1255: Talk this morning of Fulham swooping for AC Milan midfielder Urby Emanuelson has proven portentious. The 26-year-old left-sided Dutchman joins until the end of the season. He'll be an old companion of Martin Jol's from his Ajax days.
1251: Aston Villa have confirmed that Yacouba Sylla's signing from French club Clermont Foot will be completed this afternoon.
1244: Nottingham Forest are in talks with Peterborough midfielder George Boyd, have made a bid for Wolves full-back Stephen Ward, AND have also signed Kuwait international goalkeeper Khaled Al-Rashidi on a free from Al Arabi.
1234: Here's one you might not be aware of - Barnsley want to sign Stoke's long throw specialist Rory Delap.
1228: PEN TO PAPER! QPR have snapped up Christopher Samba from Anzhi on a deal until 2017. We're unlikely to know for sure whether the eye-popping wage of £100,000 per week is true.
1214: DONE DEAL ALERT! Luciano Becchio has completed his move from Leeds to Norwich, becoming the 86th player to leave Elland Road from Norfolk in the last 18 months. Steve Morison moves in the opposite direction as part-exchange.
1142: Wigan have agreed a deal for Barnsley's highly-rated full-back John Stones. Read more
1140: Heurelho Gomes is on the brink of leaving Tottenham to join Hoffenheim on loan. More details here.
1119: The news that Leeds fans had been fearing has indeed come to pass. Luciano Becchio has passed his medical and is all clear to take the well-trodden path from Elland Road to Norwich. Ex-Millwall striker Steve Morison is set to move the other way as part of the deal.
1114: Now we're talking! Word is reaching us that David Beckham is to have a medical today at Paris St. Germain. That's certainly the biggest news of the day thus far! PSG have called a press conference for 1600 GMT. Read on.
1109: I'm going to fire a few headlines at you now - Kieron Dyer's joining Middlesbrough, Tom Huddlestone's move from Spurs to Fulham is off, and it turns out Mike Ashley's helicopter activity centred around the signing of 17-year-old Servette defender Kevin Mbabu. Also, I've just been informed that Francois Miterrand is, in fact, dead. That probably puts to bed any lingering rumours of a move to Newcastle.
1057: Helicopter alert! We've seen our first chopper of deadline day! Let's hope it had a reinforced undercarriage, 'cos it contained none other than Mike Ashley. No word yet on which Frenchman he's signing. Francois Miterrand or Gerard Depardieu are currently without clubs, we're hearing...
1045: Let's not forget the Football League amidst this mania of megabucks deals. Chris Iwelumo, he of *that* miss at Hampden Park, has left Watford for Oldham. Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has ruled out a long-rumoured move for Celtic's Aiden McGeady. It's being reported that Norwich have been scratching on the door at Celtic Park for a FOURTH time, with yet another attempt to lure Gary Hooper to Norfolk. That one's going to run all day, one suspects.
1039: Mario Balotelli's £19m departure from Manchester City to Milan has finally been confirmed. His typically chaotic arrival at the San Siro last night (police dispersed fans with tear gas from outside the restaurant where he met Milan club officials!) is probably a sign of the madness in store for the Rossoneri. "Being at City was an important part of my life and career," says Mario. "I needed to grow up like a player and as a person and it has been a very good experience for me." I'm sure his neighbours in Alderley Edge are sad to see him go.
0958: We have our first major all-wrapped-up signing of deadline day. Wigan have re-signed Paul Scharner (who still holds the Latics record for most Premier League games played, stat fans) on loan from Hamburg. The 32-year-old utility man turns 33 in a couple of months.
0949: Hold your horses, Boro fans! Danny Graham's "people" have ruled out a move to the Riverside, despite the club and Swansea having agreed a £5m fee. With the greatest respect to Middlesbrough, you have to say that's not particularly surprising. Leaving the Premier League for a club in sixth place in the Championship would've been a seriously dicey career move.
0918: For the first, but undoubtedly not last time today, 'Arry has wound his car window down and had a mic shoved in his mush. Unfortunately we didn't learn an awful lot as it wasn't working properly. He muttered something about Jermaine Jenas' fitness problems. Kevin Bond was driving. Good of them to use the local Sandbanks 'share a car to work' scheme.
0912: Admin staff at QPR are set for some whopping overtime today (hope they're on time and a half). Christopher Samba has reportedly passed his medical and is set to complete his move from Anzhi. Fees mentioned range between £12.5 to £20m with eye-popping wages of £100k a week. Read more here.
0838: Danny Graham update - Middlesbrough and Swansea have apparently agreed on a £5m fee. That's a big sum for a Championship club who only currently occupy the bottom play-off place. A pretty hefty gamble for the player himself too.
0822: Prick up those ears! Swansea striker Danny Graham is on his way to the north east. You knew that though, didn't you? But wait! It's not his long-rumoured move to Sunderland that's happening here. He's actually off for talks with... Middlesbrough. We'll keep you posted on that one.
0803: Let's kick things off then with a few early tidbits. Celtic have rejected a third Norwich offer for striker Gary Hooper, and at the same time Chris Hughton, Delia and top Canaries bods are in talks with Leeds blond bombshell striker Luciano Becchio. Harry Redknapp, as ever, is set for a busy day. He wants Spurs winger David Bentley, the man who infamously threw a barrel of water over him during a live TV interview. Fulham are poised to sign AC Milan's Holland international midfielder Urby Emanuelson.
0745: Dawn breaks over Cameron's Britain. Is it the fiscal deficit, gun crime, the spiralling cost of living or the widening gap between rich and poor that has us all fretting this morning? Of course it's not. It's the internal HR of our chosen football clubs, of course! It's the day that has agents rubbing their hands and eyeing up a new Rolex, the day of brinkmanship, skullduggery, 'Arry's wound-down car window, yelling yobs crowding around Sky Sports News reporters and chartered helicopters. But forget Jim White, if you want to be guided through transfer deadline day without regular bouts of histrionic shouting, stick with us right here until tonight's 2300 cut-off and beyond.
