Ledesma in talks with Boro

Walsall's out-of-contract Emmanuel Ledesma is holding talks with Middlesbrough over a move to The Riverside, the player's agent has confirmed.

The former Genoa and Queens Park Rangers midfielder returned to Walsall midway through last season and made a big impact with the Saddlers.

The 23-year-old Argentine helped himself to four goals in ten games and played a major role in keeping Dean Smith's side in League One.

Walsall are desperate to keep him, but he is set to leave the Banks's Stadium with a number of Championship clubs keen.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, agent Lucas Cominelli confirmed talks with Boro were on-going.

"We are talking with Middlesbrough, yes - but nothing has been signed yet," said Cominelli. "We are just awaiting the offer and we will see from there.

"There are two other clubs also interested from the Championship so we will see, Emmanuel is not in a hurry, he is calm.

"But Middlesbrough are who we are talking to now and are ahead of anyone else."

Cominelli confirmed that Ledesma was set to leave Walsall, having enjoyed his time with Midlands outfit.

"Emmanuel was very happy with Walsall, they welcomed him in and did very well for him," he said.

"He has nothing against playing for Walsall, but playing in the Championship would be an obvious step up for him. He knows all about that level having been there with QPR and is keen to return."
