Lee claims maiden LPGA title

Mirim Lee won the Meijer LPGA Classic, her maiden tour title, after overcoming fellow South Korean Inbee Park at the second play-off hole.

The pair finished 14 under at Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids, Michigan after Lee shot a two-under-par 69.

Park, a 10-time winner on tour, had led by one shot overnight and had two birdies in her first three holes, but could not find any more and dropped a shot at the 14th.

Norway's Suzann Pettersen was one shot behind after carding 69. She was four-under for her round after an eagle at just the fifth hole but slipped back and a bogey at 16 ultimately kept her out of the play-off.

Lee and Park both made par at the first extra hole, the par-four 18th, but when they then headed down the 17th Lee produced a birdie three for victory.

Japan's Haru Nomura was fourth at 10 under while first-round leader Sandra Gal shot 66 to join the group sharing fifth a further shot back.

No British challenge materialised all week, with England's Jodi Ewart Shadoff the closest to the leaders but finishing back at three under.
