Leedham joins Connecticut Sun

Great Britain's Jo Leedham is to realise her WNBA dream after being signed to a rookie contract by the Connecticut Sun.

Leedham, who averaged a team-high 16.2 points at the London Olympics, was drafted by the Sun in the 2010 WNBA Draft with the 27th overall pick, but has been playing professionally in France, Australia and Poland since.

"It's been a few years since we drafted her, so we are excited to see what she can bring to our team," Sun vice president and general manager Chris Sienko said.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Ellesmere Port native should immediately settle in her new home, having previously starred at high school level with Cheshire Academy in Connecticut before playing college basketball at Franklin Pierce.

The Sun will begin their 2013 WNBA season on May 25.
