Leicester defenders depart

Defenders Sean St Ledger and Zak Whitbread have been released by Leicester.

Both players will become free agents next month when their contracts expire.

Republic of Ireland international St Ledger, 29, joined City from Preston in summer 2011 and only made two appearances for the club last season.

Centre-back Whitbread was a 2012 free-transfer capture from Norwich. The 30-year-old spent most of the campaign on loan at Derby.

Neil Danns is also on the Foxes' released list, but the 31-year-old midfielder has already agreed a contract with Bolton, where he finished the season on loan.

Development squad defender George Taft has also been allowed to leave the Sky Bet Championship champions along with fellow youngsters Jamie Anton, Ben Frempah and Robert Paratore.

But development squad players Kieran Kennedy, Ryan Watson, Adam Dawson, Jak McCourt, Marcel Barrington, Jacob Blyth, Michael Cain, Harry Panayiotou, James Pearson, Alie Sesay and Adam Smith have all been offered terms.
