Lennon reflects with pride

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon was delighted by his side's 2-0 Scottish Cup win over St Johnstone.

The Buddies secured a phenomenal League Cup win over SPL champions Celtic last weekend - and followed up with a hard-fought success against their fellow Saints at St Mirren Park.

Esmael Goncalves was the hero on this occasion with a well-taken double but equally important was the contribution of goalkeeper Craig Samson, who saved brilliantly from Steven MacLean and Rowan Vine to ensure a clean sheet.

Lennon said afterwards: "It's been a great week, we are starting to find that level of consistency that we were striving for.

"I am delighted at the effort of the team and that they are finally getting the rewards for those efforts.

"Esmael was fantastic again today and he's only going to get better. He's had quite a baptism at the club and he's going to have a fantastic career."
