Lewis off to a flyer in Thailand

American Stacy Lewis' magnificent opening round of 63 gave her the lead after day one of the Honda LPGA Thailand.

Lewis was on a roll after an eagle on the par-four third and approached the turn on six under before picking up two more shots at the 10th and 12th holes on the Pattaya Old Course at Siam Country Club.

Although the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship winner bogeyed the 16th, she finished her round with back-to-back birdies to take a three-stroke advantage over France's Karine Icher, who was on six under.

Lewis' compatriot Gerina Piller, Scotland's Catriona Matthew and South Korean duo Inbee Park and Amy Yang were all in a tie for third on five under.

Yani Tseng is bidding to become the 10th person in LPGA history to win the same event for at least three consecutive seasons in Chonburi, but an opening-round three over par left her well adrift of the frontrunners.
