Lingfield jumps card abandoned

Lingfield's jumps meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been abandoned due to waterlogging following an inspection.

Clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie Ross said: "Unfortunately we are still a bit bedraggled down here.

"There's still very much water and water here and there, and the bottom line is we have areas of unstable ground that we wouldn't get back in time.

"We've had 11 inches of rain since early December, and it might need a good week or more of this dry and sunny weather we've got at the moment to be happy to race on."

The jumps fixture scheduled for January 3 at the Surrey venue was also abandoned due to a waterlogged track, with the next National Hunt card set for January 28.
