Lingfield jumps card abandoned

Tuesday's jumps meeting at Lingfield has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

The beleaguered turf track remains unraceable following another night of heavy rain in Surrey.

Lingfield has now had to abandon five consecutive National Hunt fixtures.

Clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie Ross said: "We had another 15.6 millimetres of rain on Saturday so there was obviously no chance we could have raced.

"There are more showers forecast over the next few days so there was little point in hanging on.

"We had 200mm of rain in December, 243mm in January and so far in February we've had 70mm.

"It's fair to say we've had our fair share of rain in this part of the country."
