London loan Leeds trio

London have boosted their squad by signing three of Leeds' young players on loan for the 2014 season.

Winger James Duckworth and back Thomas Minns, both 19, and 20-year-old second-rower Alex Foster will all represent the Broncos for the campaign.

Tony Rea's squad was decimated during the close-season as a result of the financial uncertainty surrounding the club.

However, with the future of the club secure, Rea has begun the job of rebuilding with the capture of the Rhinos trio coming a day after the club announced the signing of Hull KR's George Griffin and the retention of 12 players, including back row Matt Cook and winger Kieran Dixon.

Leeds coach Brian McDermott believes London have provided a good opportunity for his young players to further develop their career.

Great opportunity

"This is a great opportunity for all three players," said McDermott.

"Last season they showed their potential, with Alex Foster in particular becoming a regular in our side on merit because of his performances.

"They have trained well in pre-season with us and the move to London is a chance for them to be regularly involved in a first-team environment."

All three players made their Super League debuts last season with Foster making nine appearances, Minns three and Duckworth two.

Rea said: "It's important to note that we had identified them and been asking for a few months.

"We'd watched their debuts and watched their performances last year. They were players we wanted around here."
