London Welsh sign Molenaar

London Welsh have announced the signing of experienced New Zealand-born centre Tim Molenaar from Harlequins.

The hard tackling 33-year-old made 19 appearances for Quins last season, including starting the 31-17 Aviva Premiership semi-final loss to Saracens last month.

The London Welsh playing staff has undergone huge changes as they gear up for a season in the top flight and head coach Justin Burnell feels Molenaar's physicality will be a huge asset.

"This is another important piece of our recruitment plans for next season,\" he said.

\"Tim is another player with a lot of Premiership experience that we had targeted and he will provide a physicality that will complement our other centres and give us various combinations in the midfield.\"

Former England international fly-half Olly Barkley headlines the list of new recruits at London Welsh after he joined from Llanelli Scarlets.

Molenaar becomes the Exiles latest arrival after they announced the signing of former England U20 hooker Koree Britton from Northampton on Monday.

The New Zealander joined Harlequins from Gloucester in October 2013 after making 75 first team appearances and scoring 10 tries for the Cherry and Whites in his four seasons at Kingsholm.

He previously played over 100 league games for Nottingham, whom he joined in 2005.
