Longchamp option for Shantaram

Shantaram may return to action in the Qatar Prix Chaudenay at Longchamp on October 6 after being forced to miss key engagements.

The three-year-old colt, trained by John Gosden, skipped the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York last month after having mucus on his lungs.

Connections then ran out of time to have him ready for the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster. He has not run since winning the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket in July.

"He's working away and I'm very hopeful he will run again this year," said Hugo Lascelles, racing manager to owner Lady Bamford.

"We might run him at Longchamp in the Group Two over one-mile-six on the Saturday of Arc weekend.

"That's where we are targeting, but we'll see how we go."
