Lopes to miss rest of season

Lyon defender Miguel Lopes looks set to miss the rest of the season after the club announced he suffered a leg fracture during Sunday's 1-0 victory over Guingamp.

Tests revealed the Portugal international has fractured his left tibia and he will now undergo surgery on Tuesday, spending six weeks in a cast before beginning rehabilitation.

With just eight weeks of the campaign remaining, the 27-year-old, who is on a season-long loan deal from Sporting Lisbon, could have played his last game for the club having made 24 appearances across all competitions.

The news comes as a further blow to Les Gones, who are already without a number of players through injury as they chase a top-four finish in Ligue 1.
