Lorenzo sets new record

Jorge Lorenzo set a new lap record to take pole for Sunday's Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

The Spaniard picked up his seventh pole of the season after going round in two minutes 00.334 seconds to edge Repsol Honda Team's title rival Dani Pedrosa into second spot on the grid, after the Honda rider had been the fastest in the preceding practices.

Andrea Dovizioso on his Satellite Machine took the final place on the front row.

Pedrosa's team-mate Casey Stoner is third after finishing half a second off the pace with Tech 3's Cal Crutchlow in fifth.
