Love and Snedeker have advantage
Davis Love and Brandt Snedeker shot a 10-under-par 62 to grab the first-round lead in the Franklin Templeton Shootout.
Using a modified alternate-shot format, the pair bagged 10 birdies to register the lowest score in 12 years of the event being staged in Naples, Florida.
Love said everyone on the US Ryder Cup team had wanted to play with Snedeker during September: "And that's why I was so excited to play with him, because I knew it would be fun and comfortable."
Love had captained the Americans when the Europeans won by a single point at Medinah in Illinois in early autumn.
Kenny Perry and Sean O'Hair are two strokes back at Tiburon Golf Club.
O'Hair said: "In this format, both players have got to play well."
The two-man teams will play better-ball on Saturday, before closing the tournament with a scramble format on Sunday.
