Lovegrove makes Rovers vow

Rhys Lovegrove is determined to keep hold of his place in the Hull KR team after seeming likely to leave the club last winter.

Lovegrove was told he was free to look for a new club by coach Craig Sandercock during the off-season after six-and-a-half years with Rovers.

But he worked hard to stay involved with the first-team squad this season and has been rewarded with seven appearances, with his focus now on staying in Sandercock's plans.

"I was out in the pastures and had the law laid down to me so to speak," Lovegrove told the Hull Daily Mail.

Working hard

"I knew where I was in pre-season so it was about training hard and getting back in the team. Now I have to keep working and see what happens.

"It wasn't a kick up the backside, it was more a case of remembering you may have been here a long time, but nothing is a given when it comes to playing.

"It's always a privilege to play for Rovers. I love it here and I'll always do my best for them. With the new players joining the squad, it has raised the bar on how hard I had to train."
