Lovren ready to face Saints
Dejan Lovren will not be distracted by facing his former club Southampton when he makes his Liverpool debut on Sunday.
The Croatian defender left Southampton after just one season this summer to join Liverpool and will come up against his old club in their opening game of the new campaign at Anfield.
Lovren has acknowledged it was a difficult end to his time at St Mary's, but he felt he could not pass up the chance to play for Liverpool.
He is confident that Liverpool can build on last season's challenge for the Premier League title and qualification for the UEFA Champions League, and is ready to tackle Southampton.
\"Listen, I said it was destiny,\" said Lovren. \"But I won't think about Southampton, I will concentrate on my game and on my style.
\"Maybe it was a difficult relationship at the end, but I said, from the first day, I wanted to come to Liverpool.
\"I told them I want to leave because Liverpool is a massive club and maybe I will have this chance just one time in my life, so I don't want to stay and see the chance going.
\"There is a lot of talent here, amazing players and last season they showed already they can do something. Now, with eight new players, I'm really confident in this team.\"
