Lowes celebrates double success
Alex Lowes recorded his first double success of the British Superbike Championship with a pair of victories at Cadwell Park.
The Samsung Honda rider led from pole position to the chequered flag to win race one before taking advantage of Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes crashing on the final lap to come home first in race two.
The wins saw Lowes move on to 293 points in the standings, in second place, 37 points behind Shane Byrne on the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki.
Starting from the front of the grid in race one, Lowes held his position at the ahead of the field, despite coming under pressure from Byrne and James Ellison.
Byrne took second with Ellison losing third place to Brookes before crashing out on lap 14.
Lowes then made it a perfect race day, but had to battle with Brookes before sealing a second victory.
Brookes took the lead on the first lap, but Lowes dived in front to take the lead and Brookes dropped back to third behind Tommy Bridewell (Halsall Racing Kawasaki).
But the Australian responded by passing Bridewell on the penultimate lap and then, on the final lap, passed Lowes on the inside to hit the front again.
He was denied victory, though, crashing out unhurt on the run into Mansfield, allowing Lowes to take his second win.
Bridewell scored his best ever finish in the championship with a second place as Ellison completed the podium.
