Lowes fastest in free practice
Alex Lowes topped the timesheets at the end of second free practice ahead of the weekend's final round of the British Superbike Championship.
Lowes is currently third in the title showdown with only the three-race event at Brands Hatch in Kent remaining - but the 22-year-old's time of one minute 26.264 seconds will boost the WFR Honda rider's confidence ahead of the opening race on Saturday.
Championship leader Shane Byrne had set the fastest time heading into the final minute of the session but the Kawasaki rider had to settle for second place, almost half-a-second adrift of Lowes.
Barry Burrell for Buildbase BMW finished third with Josh Brookes, one of the championship's six Title Fighters behind him in fourth place on his Tyco Suzuki.
Karl Harris and James Westmoreland also impressed to claim the fifth and sixth fastest times of the session, respectively.
Their efforts meant the rest of the Title Fighters, made up of the top six riders from the opening nine events of the season, were relegated further down the field.
Samsung Honda's Michael Laverty claimed seventh with Tommy Hill's Swan Yamaha eighth and Tommy Bridewell recording the ninth-quickest time despite having to visit the medical centre for a check-up following a crash at Striling's.
The top 10 was rounded out by the Pr1mo Kawasaki of Chris Walker ahead of free practice three on Saturday morning.
