Lustig in new deal talks

Mikael Lustig has revealed that he is in talks with Celtic over a new contract to extend his stay at the club.

The Sweden international defender is entering the final year of his contract after joining Celtic from Rosenberg in January 2012.

Lustig does not envisage any problems with the contract talks and fully expects to extend his stay at Parkhead.

"I have a year left on my contract, and we are discussing an extension," the 27-year-old told the Daily Record.

"We will see if we reach agreement or what happens but there is no stress.

"I expect to be playing for Celtic next season."

Lustig also paid tribute to former Bhoys boss Neil Lennon following the Northern Irishman's shock departure earlier this month.

"We enjoyed good times with Neil Lennon and he has done an awful lot for us," added the right-back.

"We have achieved great success in the two and a half years I have been there.

"It was disappointing he left but that is football. He had been at the club four years, and that is a long time for a manager."
