Lyon's chance of making the UEFA Champions League suffered a massive blow after they lost 3-0 at Toulouse on Wednesday night.
Lyon remain in fourth, but could have closed to three points of Lille - but now with six games left they are six points adrift.
Toulouse themselves are now level with Lyon after their win in at the Stadium Municipal.
Pantxi Sirieix put Toulouse ahead just nine-minutes when he beat Hugo Lloris from close range.
Emmanuel Riviere then doubled their lead when he headed home from a Sirieix's cross midway through the first half.
Turkish ace Umut Bulut wrapped up the win for the Pink City outfit in stoppage time.
Coupe de Ligue winners Marseille remain in tenth after a 1-1 draw with Caen at the Stade Velodrome.
