Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has dismissed reports linking the club with a move for Port Vale striker Tom Pope.
The Sun newspaper said Posh, who have a reputation for plucking talent from the lower leagues, were lining up a swoop for the 27-year-old, who has scored 23 goals in all competitions for the League Two outfit so far this season.
But MacAnthony said via Twitter: "It is total nonsense and we are not in for that player or have ever been.
"Great goalscorer, but nothing in this one."
Pope recently extended his contract at Vale Park until the summer of 2014.
