Madness at Sandown

David Brown says exciting youngster Mind Of Madness will take in the National Stakes at Sandown before Royal Ascot.

The Azamour colt, owned by Qatar Racing, made a big impression when slamming what looked a promising field that included two previous winners, Abscent Friends and Flyball, on his debut in a Newmarket maiden on Wednesday.

The Newark trainer immediately named the Listed National Stakes over the stiff five furlongs at the Esher venue on May 29 as the next port of call.

The plan is then to go to Royal Ascot, where Brown will consider the Norfolk Stakes over the minimum trip and the six-furlong Coventry Stakes.

"He came out of the race well and is in lovely order," said Brown.

"We'll work our way now to the National Stakes and then on to Royal Ascot. I'll look at both the five- and six-furlong races for him there."
