Former Great Britain women's basketball coach Tom Maher is to take charge of China's national team.
The Australian's contract with Britain ended after last summer's Olympics, and although he voiced an interest in staying on, British Basketball were not immediately able to offer him a new deal as their funding situation was up in the air.
After British Basketball won their appeal against a funding cut, Maher had remained in the picture for the British job.
However, his team in Australia, the Bulleen Boomers, have now confirmed he is to leave for a second stint in China.
"Maher will leave in the next few weeks to take up the full time position for the next four years in China," said a statement on the team's website.
Although Britain failed to win a game at the Olympics, it was widely accepted that Maher - an accomplished international coach - had raised their level considerably since taking the job in 2009.
Prior to coaching Britain, Maher had won Olympic bronze and silver with Australia, while also coaching New Zealand and China.
Britain are due to compete in the EuroBasket Women, which tips off in France on June 15, putting the pressure firmly on to find a replacement.
