Malaysian glory for Pliskova
Karolina Pliskova won her first WTA Tour title after a three-set win over Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the Malaysian Open.
The world number 127 was playing in her first final, but showed few nerves and beat her American opponent in one hour and 46 minutes.
Mattek-Sands looked set to win her first tour title after easing to a 6-1 first set victory, but the Czech fought back winning the next two 7-5 6-3.
Pliskova powered down 10 aces during the encounter, with her first serve a vital weapon in the final two sets.
