Marcret makes Marwan's day
Marcret led home a one-two for owner Dr Marwan Koukash in the Betfair Huxley Stakes at Chester.
A prolific winner in Italy but now with the burgeoning yard of Marco Botti in Newmarket, the five year old entire was always prominent under Ryan Moore.
Racing just off the leader Questioning, Moore made his move on the bottom turn ahead of the straight and took his mount towards the stands' side in search of better ground.
The pair had half a length in hand at the line in the ten furlong Group Three contest as Myplacelater came home strongly from the rear of the field to run the best race of her season since being transferred to Richard Fahey's stable.
Questioning, who had cut out most of the running, ran a solid race, just losing out for third to Wigmore Hall who had raced more prominently than usual.
Michael Bell's globetrotter, in fact, travelled better than most but the testing conditions took their toll in the straight as his run flattened out.
Koukash is a huge supporter of Chester and Botti was thrilled to saddle a second winner of the meeting for the owner.
He said: "I'm absolutely delighted. The owner bought this horse last week. He was in the sales but we pulled him out.
"Marwan had the first and second too, so I think he's over the moon.
"The owner made it clear this was the place where he would like to have a winner, so this was the plan.
"He's been a consistent horse. I was a bit concerned about the softer ground as he has been running on firmer ground in Dubai, but Ryan was always happy about where he was during the race.
"He seemed to handle it well and he picked up well off a slow pace."
