Maria amazes in Prestige
Amazing Maria was a convincing winner of the Group Three Whiteley Clinic Prestige Stakes at Goodwood.
Ed Dunlop's filly caught the eye with victory at the Glorious meeting and she confirmed that promise with a ready success under Gerald Mosse.
Despite the softened ground, the daughter of Mastercraftsman was quickly away and was asked to dictate terms.
Having had her six rivals all under pressure from some way out, she kept on well to the finish and was an easy two-and-a-half lengths to the good.
Dunlop said: "I think the ground is a bit softer than ideal for her, but she did it very well.
"I've always held her in high regard and at this stage she's my best two-year-old."
Barry Simpson, racing manager for owner Sir Robert Ogden, added: "It was a very positive run and we couldn't be more thrilled.
"I think the Fillies' Mile would be an option for her."
Qawaasem attempted to chase the winner throughout and held on to second, with Halljoy back in third.
Following the race, Sky Bet introduced the filly at 20/1 for the 1000 Guineas.
