Meandre not making Royal trip

Meandre has been ruled out of a trip to Royal Ascot in June with Andre Fabre preferring to stay at home in France for the time being.

Impressive winner of the Grand Prix de Paris last season, the Slickly colt went on to finish sixth in the Arc to Danedream but was disappointing on his seasonal return when only fourth behind Al Kazeem at Newmarket in the Jockey Club Stakes.

Fabre blamed very soft ground for that display and will be hoping for a sounder surface at Longchamp on June 11 for the Prix La Coupe.

"The ground was much heavier than they said at Newmarket," said Fabre.

"They called it good to soft but it was nearly heavy. He ran a good race but got tired in the very soft ground.

"I'll go back to 10 furlongs with him for the La Coupe on June 11. He has an entry for Ascot (Hardwicke) but he won't run there."
