Meulensteen takes positives

Rene Meulensteen said he was proud of Fulham's performance despite watching them go down to defeat against title-chasing Liverpool.

The Reds had to twice come from behind before Steven Gerrard's stoppage-time penalty sealed a dramatic 3-2 win at Craven Cottage.

However, Meulensteen's side produced a performance that belied their position at the bottom of the Premier League.

"Like we said against Manchester United we had 14 games to go and so many points to play for with Liverpool now 13 games, but we know they are two big teams trying to get into the Champions League," Meulensteen told Sky Sports.

"Hopefully we'll get some winnable games with teams that haven't got the quality as the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United and that's where we need to pick up points."

With 21-year-old's Dan Burn and Ryan Tunnicliffe in the Cottagers starting line-up, Meulensteen was pleased with their performances as well as the whole team.

"I thought they were outstanding, every single one of them," he added.

"That's one of the things that I'll take a lot of confidence from."
