Michelisz grabs maiden pole

Norbert Michelisz claimed his first ever World Touring Car Championship pole position for Sunday's opening race in Bratislava.

The Hungarian took his BMW to a best time of two minutes 12.990 seconds, less than a tenth of a second up on Aleksei Dudukalo's SEAT Leon. Gabriele Tarquini, also at the wheel of a SEAT, was third.

The Ford of James Nash and Tiago Monteiro (SEAT) were fourth and fifth respectively, while it was a disappointing session for Chevrolet, who saw Yvan Muller take sixth place, Rob Huff seventh and Alain Menu ninth.

The BMW of Stefano D'Aste took 10th place and will therefore start Sunday's second race from pole position thanks to the reversed grid rule.
